Continuing Education & Professional Memberships

Following dental school at The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), Dr. Butler completed a two-year general practice residency program at the MUSC Hospital in Charleston. This residency allowed Dr. Butler to receive extensive hands-on training in a wide variety of dental skills. As a life-long learner, Dr. Butler enjoys taking advanced training courses in order to remain current with the newest techniques, technologies, and procedures in the dental industry. 

Over the last several years, he has attended many courses and lectures including: 

  • “The Study of Restorative Dentistry, Implants, Occlusion, and Anterior Esthetics” – Pankey Institute 
  • “The Study of Anterior Esthetics and Restorations” – Las Vegas Institute 
  • “The Study of Occlusion” – Dawson Academy
  • “The Study of Anterior Esthetics, Implants and Occlusion” – Seattle Institute 
  • “Practice Management” – Blatchford Seminars

The above continuums and many more continuing education courses have shaped Dr. Butler’s philosophy of how he practices dentistry today. 

Dr. Butler is a member of the South Carolina Dental Association and has advanced training in implant restoration and esthetic dentistry.

Life & Hobbies

In his free time, Dr. Butler enjoys fishing, hiking, and reading. He has two sons who attend the University of South Carolina, and he is a member of the Forest Lake Presbyterian Church.
